Lt. Cdr., US Navy. He attended the U.S. Naval Academy and later served aboard USS Kitty Hawk (CV-63). Lt. Cdr. Sallada became Executive Officer (EO) of VA-81 (the "Sunliners") at NAS Cecil Field, Florida in July 1974, becoming the squadron's twenty-first commanding officer on March 03, 1975, a position he held until March 03, 1976. Naval Test Pilot School at Patuxent River, Maryland, where he later became the school's director.
